The adult submissions will be divided into four categories, physically displayed at the Charlevoix Circle of Arts in four distinct quadrants, making the type of photo very obvious to any guest browsing the gallery.

The four Adult categories are:

1. Realistic Photography-- Color prints that must look as they do in the view finder. Extensively edited and overtly manipulated images should be submitted to the Photo Art category.  The juror will have discretion to eliminate works from this category if there has been “too much” editing.”
... basically in camera composition-- no cloning, no layers.  Cropping and slight adjustments for light and color are allowed. Original unedited raw file may be requested by the juror.   The juror will use a scoring system that deducts points for “excessive editing.”  The juror will have discretion to eliminate works from this category if there has been “too much” editing.  (Works so eliminated from this category will be eligible for review in the Photo Art category.)

  2.  Photo Art  – any work primarily based upon a photographic process--  no limits to Photoshop or finishing treatments  including other applications to the image . This is a color category - NO black and whites.

3.  Black and White  -  no limits to editing or treatments. This is a NO color category.

4.  First time contestants.  This creates a place for all new photographers to submit photo graphs . Entrants don't have to be  beginners  in photography - but the requisite is  that the entrant has   "no previously judged  images " accepted into ANY other juried show.

---- The Youth Category  is open to any photo by someone under 18 years of age (at the time the photo was taken).   The photograph must have been taken in the designated area.

We will institute a popular vote to promote community involvement.
Winner to be announced at the 'Peoples Award Choice Party'  Friday 7 -9 pm December 30th 2011

Visitors will be encouraged to vote for ONE winner in each of the 5 categories, by signature ballots.

PRIZES Awarded by Juror's decision - for opening ceremony:
1st and 2nd place for each of the five categories plus two honorable mentions.
BEST OF SHOW award selected from the 5 winning entries - only.

Prizes from the people's awards - for closing ceremony:
1st and 2nd place for each of four adult categories
and Top five popular choices for the Youth entries.
(best of show isn't really possible using the people's choice....as we don't want to be
too strict in regards to inviting friends and family to come out and vote)

We would like to find 11 really nice prizes for the juried awards, from around town, or from camera companies,  framing companies, canvas on demand, print publishers, etc. and 13 'fun' prizes for the people's choice awards; 24 gifts total.
